I wrote the following letter, prior to the 2008 election. Thought I would share it. By the way, it seems the link to the Illinois Senate transcript of "A Call to Renewal" has been killed. The transcript did not seem to be true to Obama's video verbage. [see Links]

I recently watched "A Call to Renewal", a 2006 speech by Barack Obama (recorded in a church and applauded, presumably by Christians!). I took some notes.
In his speech, Senator Barack Obama said:
"This will be difficult for some, who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, as many Evangelical Christians do, but in a pluralistic society we have no choice. Politics depends on our ability to persuade each other of [unintelligible?] on a common reality. It involves compromise; the art of what's possible. And at some fundamental level, religion doesn't allow for compromise....."
He continued: "...If God spoke, then God's followers are expected to live up to God's edict, regardless of the consequences. Now to base one's own life on such uncompromising commitments might be sublime, but for our policy making commitments would be a dangerous thing."
I guess we are supposed to pick only those politicians, who will compromise all that is right. Washington DC is full of more than enough compromising Godless animals. And adding to that, is a desirable CHANGE???
What we compromise to keep, we will lose.
What we allow government to compromise, it will steal from us.
To many average Americans, this may sound like a reasonable explanation of how government can work, in a nation of so many different beliefs (faiths). This especially true, given damaging affects of the opinion(s) of the Federal Supreme Court, dictating that the 'Separation of Church and State' is the bi-lateral law of the land, except for all beliefs non-Christian.
Congress has made far too many laws and far too many deals with entities. The more they attempt to remove God our Creator, from the government equation, the more ludicrous and burdensome the laws become; at the same time the laws are less effectual. The statement "Ignorance of the law is no excuse." is far beyond reason.
There are several laws, accepted by many millions, as being from our Creator. They are meant to guide us away from personal destruction. Our Federal Supreme Court, told us that those laws are a 'BAD' thing, so they told the education system to stop displaying the laws to our children, because they might see, read, think and be affected by them...well, duh! These laws are traditionally called The Ten Commandments.
What is 'BAD' ('politically incorrect') about the following laws?:
These laws ARE pretty much 'universally acceptable' laws. If you, who are reading this, but cannot (will not) see how these 'laws' are GOOD for our Nation, you should get over yourself and think about the lowest common denominators to which our laws should condense.
Israel was told, that if foreigners want to live amongst them, to accept that. They were even to allow the foreigners lattitude to practice their own religious beliefs, as long as the foreigners did not attempt to take liberties, perverting Israel's religious practices (there are some additional limitations.)
The USA has been, to varying degrees over time, tolerant of many beliefs. Yes, it has been a learning process, but it is rolling over and beyond individual/group beliefs, to become mandatory for all to accept the beliefs of others as 'truths' AND to abandon TRUTHs, as archaic and obsolete.
Our government is itself becoming a 'hate crime' against the beliefs of WE THE PEOPLE. The very beliefs in, and reverence for, our Creator, which are the basis of the Constitution's protective authority, are being thrown to the ground and trampled, in the name of Constitutional authority.
It seems to me, that as soon as our elected public servants throw out the Constitution of the United States of America (replace it with their New Living Constitution), they too are no longer protected by anything except rule by bruite-force. Is that the fight they want?? Do they want to test the patriotism vs. loyalty of our citizens and our military? Remember what happened in Russia? The tanks were stopped by unarmed people.
Now back to Barack Obama: IF he is wrong in his supposition: 'If you want to participate in the politics, you must compromise your religious beliefs; exchanging them for universally acceptable moralities.' How far off course will he take the USA, within one term as president? Or within two terms? Or an unlimited term as dictator?
We [had] two choices for president. With their extremely differential belief systems, they were in no way mutually acceptable, or interchangeable (pretty obvious at this point.) It came down to voters telling government:
to make more room at the trough, or
to get back into its place.
Which is closer to your choice? Which way did the majority choose?
Here are a couple quotes I like to remember:
- "That which you compromise to keep, you will lose."
- Martin Luther King Jr.: "The time is always right to do what is right."
May God continue to bless and restore the United States of America. May He bless her citizens and government (servants) with His wisdom and discernment of TRUTH.
